- Malware categories: virus (host file), worm (self-propagates), ransomware (encrypts), Trojan (disguised), rootkit (OS-hidden), RAT (remote access), spyware (exfiltrates data).
- Removal process: Identify → Quarantine → Disable System Restore → Remediate → Schedule scans → Educate user → Document.
