Know these cold

  1. Port numbers: HTTP=80, HTTPS=443, SSH=22, FTP=20/21, SMTP=25, DNS=53, RDP=3389, DHCP=67/68.
  2. DNS resolves hostnames to IPs. Troubleshoot with nslookup/dig. A record=IPv4, AAAA=IPv6, MX=email.
  3. VPN types: SSL VPN (HTTPS-based, browser), IPsec (tunnel mode), Split tunneling vs. full tunneling.
